Setting Up MetSatGetter
Here is where you set up the program to download the file sets you require. To get to the settings form, right click on the MetSatGetter icon in the system tray and select the menu ‘Show Settings Form’ at the top of the list.
The form when it loads looks like this:
To set up a download task select the elements you want from the drop down boxes. They must be selected in order from top to bottom. (Region/Satellite > Image Type > Product Name > Location)
Now select an image type: (VISPROD is not an EUMetSat image type but is needed to run this. It is the link to visualised products)
Next select the Product Name. Actually for most items this is the image style, black and white or colour. It is only the product name for visualised products.
Finally select the location, or area that you wish to download.
The Basic Details are of the form should now look like this
When you first start the tick box ‘This set is active’ will not be ticked, but the rest should be filled in for you. You are unlikely to need to change the URL details, but they can be amended here if need be.
What you do need to set up is the download times.
Files which become available only every 60 minutes (or longer) will only show 2 possible download slots. This allows you to get either 1 x 24 frames or 2 x 12 frames (or of course 2 x 24 frames). We hope that you will always try to minimise the load on the EUMETSAT servers and restrict yourself to the minimum practical. For files available every thirty minutes you will see three slots, and for files available every quarter of an hour you will see five slots. It is possible to obtain files more frequently than this, however to do this you will need to contact us.
You should also set the file set to the number of images to download.
Next you will need to ensure that you have set up the folder where you would like the files to end up.
Click on the search button to select the folder. You will see a standard folder browser dialog. Here you can select the folder - and create new ones as well.
As you are setting things up you will see this -
- appear on the form. This just reminds you that you have made changes that need to be saved.
On the toolbar at the top are the necessary buttons to save changes.
Pretty much does what it says!
Likewise for this one
Now this one you should be wary of. Basically this will remove EVERY entry and re-create the whole thing from scratch when the program is started again. Needless to say this does NOT re-create your existing entries; hence you have to start over again!! You will be asked twice if you really wish to do this so don’t panic if you hit the button accidentally.
Shows the program version of this help you are reading.
If you have any current changes they will not be saved and the form will close, other wise, if there are no changes it will just close. Please note you will NOT be prompted about this. It will just do it.
